Pop!Tech and the Human Impact
Pop!Tech is an event that happens once and brings together remarkable people from all around the world to discuss science, technology, and the future of ideas.
This year’s speakers include some of the leading thinkers and researchers in emotional mapping, mobile activism, marine ecology, and poverty alleviation. Past Pop!Tech speakers explores include Bruce Sterling, Malcolm Gladwell, Neil Gershenfeld, and Richard Dawkins. Previous Pop!casts here.
Discussions will include climate change, Islam, and the creative economy. Louann Brizendine is a neuropsychiatrist and national bestseller that explores the “incredible journey of the female brain.” Dan Gilbert will be speaking about the nature of human happiness. There will be conversations exploring mobile empowerment, with Nokia’s Joe McCarthy, MIT Media Lab’s Nathan Eagle, and MobileActive.org’s editor Katrin Verclas sharing their research on the social impact and future of mobile technology.
This is an opportunity to explore our understanding of ourselves and each other, to see where the world is headed, and to inspire and be inspired. I hope you will join the conversation–you can see the speakers for this years event, and watch the discussion LIVE! and submit any questions you have live to questions@poptech.org.
I will be attending Pop!Tech from October 17-20th in Camden, Maine. I am also one of the six live bloggers at this event. Hamid Tehrani will collaborate with me to translate these blog posts into Farsi to be posted on Global Voices Online (Farsi) in addition to Sounds Iranian.
